ISU novel, cold mountain

In Cold Mountain. The protagonist Inman is a person that has survived war. But is also feared of war. He finds out that even though he was injured, he is still in a better position than those who had lost things when they were born. He finds this out through a conversation with a blind man. Later on, he travels through barren land to go back to cold mountain, his home and find the women that he loves, Ada. On the other hand, the novel although shows the life of Ada. Ada works on the farm that he father left her. As she works she creates all relationship with nature that is peaceful. After a long and dangerous journey, Inman returns to Cold Mountain and meet Ada. They have a wonderful time together, but on the way Inman goes to surrender to the federal. He is shoot and dies in Adas lap. In this novel, It shows the harshness of war, how there is kindness even in a world with hate and war. The tragic death of the protagonist was unexpected, and it made me realize that during a time of danger, one must never let his vigilance down.

  1. What an irony that a blind person can open your eyes. Your book sounds really nice and shows how unexpected things can hurt you more than expected ones. I really like the fact that it shows the lives of two different characters as in my ISU Book. However, I'd like to know what your essay is going to be about?
